Degree Requirement For Route B
Career-Technical Licenses

In 2004, the office of Career-Technical and Adult Education at ODE recommended amending Chapter 3301-24-08 of the Teacher Education and Licensure Standards,  Professional or Associate License Renewal.  This recommendation resulted in a change regarding Route B career-technical licenses:

The second renewal of the professional career-technical license obtained pursuant to the provisions in paragraph (D)(7) of rule 3301-24-05 of the Administrative Code shall require completion of a degree applicable to the career field, classroom teaching, or area of licensure.

Implementing this change to the new licensure standards (a minimum of an associate degree from the second renewal of the professional license) will apply only to individuals who were issued their first two year provisional Route B career-technical license after the effective date of the rule revision (December 30, 2004).
