Teaching:

Michael Cunningham has been on the faculty at OSU-Lima since 1985.  He currently teaches the evolution course for the Biology Program, and has taught introductory and human biology, ecology, animal behavior, and environmental science.  He also served several years as OSU-Lima Honors Director, until his appointment as Associate Dean in 2001.  He is a past winner of the Ohio State Lima Distinguished Teaching Award.

Research:

Professor Cunningham is a behavioral ecologist.  His research interests include the ecology and evolution of mating systems, sexual selection and animal communication.  His published work includes research articles on bird song dialects and song learning in White-crowned Sparrows.  He was a co-author on the account for that species in The Birds of North America series (#183, published by the Philadelphia Acad. Nat. Sci. and the American Ornithologists Union., 1995).
