Teaching (back to top) Scott Chaffins joined the Chemistry Department at Lima full time in August 2012. Mr. Chaffins taught CHEM 101 during the summer for several years prior to joining the department full time. His teaching responsibilities include Chemistry and Society (CHEM 1100), and prelaboratory lectures and laboratory sections for General and Organic chemistry courses. Prior to joining the OSU-Lima department, Scott taught Introductory General, Organic, and Biochemistry at James A. Rhodes State College and Columbus State Community College. |
| Research and Special Interests (back to top) Mr. Chaffins' interests include chemical education research, laboratory technolgies, and process analytical chemistry. His background includes experience as a research scientist at Battelle Memorial Institute, and a senior analytical chemist in the local refining and chemical industries. Mr. Chaffins uses this broad background to enhance the laboratory experience and prepare students for the rigor of scientific inquiry. |
