Teaching (back to top) Ruth Kinder has been teaching on the Lima campus since 1995. Her teaching responsibilities encompass several sections of Chemistry 101 and 102 (traditional and belnded versions) each academic year, and recitation and laboratory sections of Chemistry 121 and 122. Prior to teaching at OSU-Lima, Ruth taught Introductory Chemistry at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois and middle and high schools sciences in Bement, Illinois. She also taught Chemistry and Advanced Chemistry for several years at University High School, a laboratory school for gifted middle and high school students affiliated with The University of Illinois. While teaching at University High School, she was selected the "Teacher of the Year" for 1982. Other teaching roles have involved being a Parent-Cooperative Preschool Facilitator and Parent Educator in both Minnesota and Washington. She is the 2004 recipient of the Lima Campus Outstanding Teacher Award.

| Research and Special Interests (back to top) Teaching with computer technology is a special interest. Professor Kinder devotes significant time and energy into developing interactive materials to blend classroom work with computerized individual access to related experiences. Beginning in 2006, she introduced a Blended style Chemistry 101 and Chemistry 102 course which has online content blended with face-to-face lab experiences. |
