Note:
There are no
regularly scheduled labs for the next three weeks. You are required
to complete Lab Unit 5 prior to doing Lab Unit 6. This would also be
a good time to do the optional lab on plate tectonics, Lab Unit 4, if
you choose to do it, so that you will have it completed prior to
taking the midterm which will include what was covered in lecture on
plate tectonics.

FINAL EXAM: Will
be over material covered after 3rd midterm.
Optional Extra-Credit Field trip due at time of final
|
|
Grading:
There will be three midterms and a final. Your best two midterm
grades will determine 60% (30% each) of your course grade. NO
MAKEUP MIDTERMS WILL BE GIVEN. A missed midterm will
be considered the "dropped" midterm. The final exam will also
determine 30% of your course grade. The final exam will not be
comprehensive. It will only be over material covered after the third
midterm. Attendance in lab and completion of lab exercises will
determine the remaining 10% of your course grade. Midterms/final will
consist of 35-45 questions, predominantly true-false, multiple-choice,
and matching. There will be a few fill-in-the-blank questions, with a
maximum of 5 per midterm/final.
Grading Scale:
Midterms/final will be graded on a positive curve, if necessary. At
the end of the course I will add up all of the points that you have
accumulated for the course and use the following scale to assign final
letter grades:
|
93 - 100 A |
91 - 93 A- |
89 - 91 B+ |
80 - 89 B |
