Laboratory:
The lab in this course will consist of exercises handed out in
class and on the computer (Tasa CD-ROM programs) in the geology
computer lab which correspond with many of the lecture topics.
Most lab exercises should be possible to complete during one class
period. In some cases, however, it may be necessary to complete
the lab at home or to spend some additional time in the lab room
to complete a given lab. #Computer labs are to be done in the
computer lab at times other than regularly scheduled class times.
Grading:
There will be three midterms and a final. Your best two midterm
grades will determine 60% of your course grade.
NO MAKEUP
MIDTERMS WILL BE GIVEN.
A missed midterm will be considered as your lowest or "dropped"
midterm. The final exam will NOT be comprehensive. It will cover
only the material covered in class after the 3rd
midterm. It will determine 30% of your course grade. The
remaining 10% of your course grade is based on class and lab
participation and completion of the lab exercises. Midterms and
the final will consist of approximately 40 true-false,
multiple-choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, short-answer
questions, and practical questions over the material covered in
lecture and lab. The grading scale used to assign the final grade
for all students in the class is the following:
