The Violet I. Meek Research Center was established in 2004 as a psychology research laboratory. Dr. Violet I. Meek served as Dean and Director of Ohio State Lima from 1991-2003. During her tenure, she worked diligently to enhance the entire educational experience for our students, including adding more four year programs that can be completed in Lima, Psychology being one of them. She was passionate about undergraduate research, and encouraged all faculty members and their students to participate. Today, more students than ever are engaged in some type of research. They are learning how to search for answers to questions and create knowledge for the greater good, which clearly reflects the University’s motto: “Disciplina in civitatem” which translated means Education for Citizenship.
