This spring we will be presenting the quirky comedy, Reckless, by Craig Lucas. It’s a snowy Christmas Eve, and Rachel, a young, suburban mom of two little boys, is rambling on excitedly to her husband about how much she loves all things Christmas, when her husband begins to cry and confesses he’s hired a hitman to kill her. He tells her the hit is scheduled for that evening, and she must leave now if she wants to live. She ultimately flees through their bedroom window, dressed in nothing but her slippers, nightgown and robe. Like Alice going down the rabbit hole, Rachel’s escape through the bedroom window takes her into a world where strange things seem to happen on a regular basis, ultimately leading her to a greater understanding of herself, and to a new life.
Performance dates for Reckless are April 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th, 2014, at 7:30 pm., and April 12th at 2:00pm. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors. Seating for this production is limited.
Finally, in collaboration with the Department of Music, we will be presenting a musical theatre workshop on Thursday, April 23rd at 7:30 pm. tentatively titled “God on Broadway: A Look at the Many Ways Faith is Presented in Musical Theatre”. Students will be performing musical numbers from such plays as “Godspell”, “The Book of Mormon”, “Fiddler on the Roof” and others. This event is free – tickets are not required.
