Seashore Scene
And daylight turns to starlight.
A hush across the sea.
The seagulls cease to screech,
And that way they shall be
Until the morning comes,
And the sun like fire lights
The vast, reflecting waters,
And the gulls return to flight.
I can hear the waves now crashing
Against the stony shore.
And mist blows damp around me
As the waves reach evermore
Across the shining ocean
And bring from far-off reaches
Fine and settled sands,
Which are tossed against the beaches.
The sand is soft beneath my feet,
The salty air does dry my face.
And as I stare in wonder,
I am loath to leave this place
Where all of nature's beauty
Is condensed into one single
Rushing, endless seascape,
Where the crests of waves do mingle.
