The Ohio State Lima Barons will host its first annual golf scramble on September 14, 2008, at Hawthorn Hills Golf Club, 1000 Fetter Road, Lima. The fee is $55 per person or $220 per team. Sponsorships are available

Lima, OH -  Barons Justin Mayer (Shawnee) and Matt Beggin (Lima Senior) were named to the Ohio Regional Campus Conference All-Conference First Team and Matt Helmstetter (St. Marys) and Paul Geuy (Benjamin Logan) were named to the Ohio Regional Campus Conference All-Conference Second Team.

Mayer, a sophomore infielder hit .397 on the season with 1 homerun. Beggin, a freshman infielder also hit .397 on the season, with 18 RBI and 18 stolen bases, while also pitching with a 2 & 0 record over 13 innings and an ERA of 3.23.

Helmstetter, a senior utility hit .413 on the season while catching, playing first, third base, and left field. Helmstetter led the Barons with the .413 avg, as well as homeruns with 2, RBI with 19, and doubles with 8. Helmstetter pitched three innings on the season without allowing a run on only one hit allowed. This was Helmstetter’s third time being nominated as either first or second team member of the ORCC. Geuy, a freshman pitcher/utility player hit .273 on the season and pitched 37 innings. As a pitcher Geuy had a 2.84 ERA and a record of 3 & 1 on the year.
