Barons versus OSU Mansfield Postponed
Lima, OH – Tonight’s Mens and Womens Barons Basketball contests versus OSU Mansfield have both been cancelled due to inclement weather. No makeup date(s) have been made at this time.
Lima, OH – After starting strong and building an early lead, Junior Forward Katie Fischer refused to let the Red Hawks of Miami Hamilton ruin her night as they had no answer to her combination of low post moves and outside shooting.
Fischer ended the night with 26 points to lift the Barons to a 66 to 40 victory over MU Hamilton. The win was the 2nd of the season for the Barons who have now won 2 of their last 5 contests. It has been a tough season for the young Barons under first year Head Coach Julie Burris, but they are showing a lot of improvement of late with promise of more to come.
The Barons started off hot versus MU Hamilton, hitting 3 of their first 4 threes, and building a quick 10 point lead five minutes in 15 to 5. They were able to maintain and later build on that lead with the low post combo of Sophomore Heather Jacobs and Fischer. Jacobs had 8 of her 10 points in the first half while Fischer evenly split her contributions of 13 points in each half. Jacobs 10 points in the game were good for 2nd most for the Barons, while Junior Gwen Noble and Sophomore Amanda Eversole both dropped in 8 to help the cause.
The Barons don’t return to action until February 6th when the go on the road to take on MU Middletown. They return home on February 9th for the final home game of the season.
