Lima, OH – The Barons Mens and Womens Basketball teams have completed their regular season schedules. The Women finished with an ORCC Record of 1 and 10, while the men finished with a record of 4 and 10.
While it clearly wasn’t a season where the Lady Barons won as many games as they would have liked, they were able to get a lot of playing time for two very young rosters! The Lady Barons were actually all freshmen. All season long, the young Lady Barons continued to improve, every day and every week of the season.
The Barons men were also mostly freshmen, while also having 3 sophomores and 1 junior. While going 4 and 10 is obviously not what the team’s goal was, they did accomplish some things that can give them some confidence going in to Ohio Regional Campus Tournament Play.
This weekend, both Barons squads will be traveling for their first round of tournament play. The Ladies are heading to the campus of OU Chillicothe, where they’ll be taking on Kent State Tuscarawas in their first round matchup. The Lady Barons did not face KSU Tuscarawas this season, however one point of motivation for the young Barons could be that KSU Tusc won 2 and lost 2 against the like opponents of (OSU Newark and Akron Wayne), both of which were opponents the Lady Barons played extremely tough.
The Barons men are heading to the campus of OU Zanesville for their first round matchup with OU Chillicothe. The Barons and Hilltoppers met twice this season, with the Hilltoppers winning both. Those scores were 75-79 & 67-88. The Barons had their opportunities in both contests, and hope to build on those and capitalize more often to give themselves a chance to move on in this year’s tournament.
