Barons hold UA Wayne to 19 in 1st half

Orrville, OH – On Wednesday evening the Barons grabbed an early lead and never looked back en route to a 94 to 64 thrashing of the University of Akron Wayne Warriors.

In the first half the Barons defense was locked in. In fact, it was so locked in that they only allowed 19 points, the fewest allowed in Coach Dave Koverman’s 10 years of coaching Barons basketball. Their lead at the half was 46 to 19.

The 2nd half saw a lot of back and forth play, and a couple hot streaks by Akron late, after the game was securely in hand to add to their score. It was a very balanced attack offensively for the Barons, again being lead by Jordan Swift (Shawnee) with 21 points, and Brent Cook (Spencerville) added 15.

Other key contributors for the Barons were Justin Mayer (Shawnee) with 11 points and Bentley Cooks (Lima Perry) with 10 points.

Next up for the Barons is ORCC foe OU Chillicothe on Saturday, Dec. 15th at the Hangar in Cook Hall. Tip off is set for 3pm for the men and 1pm for the women.

Come out and support the Barons! Admission is free for all OSU and Rhodes State students.
