Middletown, OH – On Wednesday the Barons dropped their 2nd consecutive game, again coming up just short at the buzzer as MU Middletown edged them by one 76 to 77.
Again, the Barons lead for nearly the entirety of the game, but fell short at the end as a desperation 40 foot shot by Brent Cook (Spencerville) was off the mark at the buzzer.
Offensive leaders for the Barons were Cook with 29, Jordan Swift (Shawnee) with 16, and Daniel Dray (Cory Rawson) with 15.
The loss drops the Barons’ record to 11 & 10 overall, 9 & 6 in the ORCC. The Barons currently are holding on to fourth place in the conference standings, and are now mathematically eliminated from catching MU Middletown for the ORCC regular season championship. However, they still have a strong chance of gaining a high seed for the post season playoffs, but will need to finish strong as several key opponents remaining could still affect that possible ranking.
The Barons return home Saturday, January 26th as they host OU Zanesville with the tip set for 3pm following the Lady Barons contest starting at 1pm.
Come out and support the Barons! Admission is free for all OSU and Rhodes State students.
