Lima, OH – Saturday the Lady Barons hosted the #2 seed in the upcoming
ORCC State Tournament, UC Clermont Cougars.
The game was tight early with the Cougars
leading most of the way. With ten minutes left in the game the Cougars had
pulled out to a 16 point lead and looked in total control. However, the Lady
Barons weren’t backing down. The fought back to actually gain the lead with
1:31 left on the clock. UCC answered quickly with a short jumper then a steal
and a 3 pointer to take the lead by 3. Kayla Doepker
(Lima Central Catholic) closed that gap right away by nailing her two free
throws, but then UCC returned the favor by knocking down two of their own free
throws. The game ended with a couple more exchanges at the free throw line and
time simply running out on the Lady Barons.
Leading the way for the Lady Barons was Allison
Brodman (Bluffton) with 20. Brodman
was a force with the ball in the paint for the entirety of the game. Other key
contributors were, Lauren McKinley (Kenton) with 15, and Doepker
with 13.
The Lady Barons final regular season game is at home this Wednesday, February 13th as they host OSU Marion in “The Hangar” in Cook Hall. Tip off is set for 5pm.
Come out and support the Barons! Admission is free for all OSU and Rhodes State students.
