Lima, OH – Tuesday the Barons won their 6th consecutive game to even their record on the season to 8 & 8 by topping OU Lancaster 11 to 3.
The Barons jumped out to an early lead by putting up two quick runs in the first inning. Again in the 2nd inning the Barons were able to ring the bell scoring another run, in fact the Barons were able to score at least one run in all but one inning during the game. Leading the way offensively was Jason Allen (Columbus Grove) going 3 for 3 with 3 singles and two runs scored. Other key contributors offensively were Matt Beggin (Lima Senior) going two for three with two doubles, a walk, and a stolen base and Matt Helmstetter (St. Marys) was one for three with a two run home run. Paul Geuy (Benjamin Logan) pitched all 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.
The win raises the Barons record to 8 & 8 overall and 6 & 3 in ORCC play. The Barons go on the road on Thursday to take on OU Zanesville in an ORCC doubleheader before traveling to OU Lancaster on Saturday to play the final game of the regular season series with the Cougars.
The Barons will return home for their final game of the regular season at home versus OSU Mansfield on Tuesday, May 6th at 4pm. Preceding the game on May 6th at 2:00 will be a game pitting the OSU Lima/Rhodes State students versus OSU Lima/Rhodes State faculty and staff in a game played by the original rules of baseball.
