Lancaster, OH – The Barons jumped out to an early lead on Lancaster by scoring in each of the first three innings with two in the first, two again in the second, and one run in the third which was more than they would need behind the strong performance by Freshman Brent Riemesch (Celina) throwing the complete game shutout. The win evens the Barons record in ORCC play to 2 and 2, while they are 2 and 14 overall on the season.
Riemesch gave up four hits, with one walk, and one hit batsman, while the Baron defense played solidly behind him committing zero errors. The only time that Lancaster seriously threatened was in the fifth inning when they had runners at first and second with one out, however Riemesch got the next batter to hit in to a double play, ending the threat. Riemesch is now 2 and 1 in ORCC action with an ERA of 2.25 in ORCC play.
Leading the way offensively for the Barons was Chris Boyd (Lincolnview), going three for four with a double and two RBI, and Alfonso Rocha (Paulding) who went two for four with a double and two RBI as well.
The Barons are back on the road Saturday, April 18 for a doubleheader at OSU Newark, starting at 1pm. The Barons return home on Tuesday, April 21 for another doubleheader with OSU Newark, starting at 2:30.
