As graduate schools, professional schools, and employers become more selective, students need to find ways to gain hands-on experience outside the classroom to boost their applications. In the sciences, conducting independent research is an indispensable experience that shows commitment to a project, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability. In this talk, Dr. Jackie will both describe her mentoring philosophy and summarize some of the research resulting from these productive collaborations.
