  • Professional Development Series: Interview Tips   All students, especially those graduating soon, are highly encouraged to attend the presentation on Interviewing Tips! During this interactive session, you will learn how to prepare for, successfully complete and follow-up on any job or internship interview. This Professional Development Series will serve as a springboard for all students seeking summer jobs, internships, or entry level professional positions for those graduating. In addition, this presentation will prepare students to participate in Mock Interviews (held on our campus on February 24 and 25) and the Spring Job and Internship Fair (held in Cook Hall Gym on March 26).   • DREAM Program 2015   The Dare to Reach Excellence Achievement and Meaning (DREAM) Program is a scholarship program geared toward underrepresented high school seniors in Allen County. There will be four events that walk the students through the admissions and financial aid processes at Ohio State Lima. Upon successful completion of the DREAM Program and CLIFFS (College Level Intervention for Freshman Success summer bridge program), students receive a renewable scholarship at Ohio State Lima. During this third DREAM event for the 2014-2015 academic year, admissions and financial aid representatives will cover FAFSA, scholarship and acceptance fee deadlines and go over a final checklist for the application process. Allen County high school seniors who meet the requirements and their parents will be invited.

  • The 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest   Ohio State Lima hosts the 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorial Contest presented by I Am Making A Difference, Inc. Students in grades 2-12 will be on campus to present their oratorical expression based on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is the seventh year for the event and the fifth year to be hosted by Ohio State Lima.

  • Master’s of Social Work Open House   Ohio State Lima is accepting applications for Master’s of Social Work degree. The next cohort begins next fall.   • So Long Solo: Music and Tea experience   This is a can’t-miss event!   • Mock Interviews   All students are encouraged to participate in 30-minute Mock Interviews to gain hands on experience interviewing with a local employer. Interviews will be 30 minutes in duration and include constructive feedback from employers on interviewee performance. Interviews will be scheduled around the class schedule of each student. For interview tips and preparation, a "Tips on Interviewing" presentation is scheduled for February 11 from 12-1pm in Public Services room 212/213. For more information or to register, e-mail Career Services at Richardson.607@osu.edu. When registering to participate, students will be able to provide a copy of their resume and sample job description. This allows students to be paired with the most appropriate employer and to be asked questions relating to the major/job of interest.

  • Homecoming- Dean Gilbert’s documentary   Come enjoy the first ever on-campus showing of the documentary Homecoming, produced by our very own Dean Charlene Gilbert. Her film traces the story of black farmers in the 20th century, including a focus on her own family’s heritage. After the film, there will be a Q&A session with our Dean. This event is being held in the theater and is open to the community.

  • The Price is Right   Passport to Lima is selling The Price is Right Live! On Stage tickets. Ohio State Lima students can purchase a ticket for $25. Limit one per student. The ticket gives you the opportunity to be an audience member. If a student would like to have the chance to be a contestant the student can arrive at the Civic and Convention Center as early as 4:30 PM, visit a kiosk and complete the application for a chance to be a contestant. There are a limited number of tickets! Student tickets can be purchased in the Student Services Center. Student must show a valid BuckID.

  • Dr. King Tribute   Mr. Marlon Shackelford presents a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will attempt to answer a number of questions relative to Dr. King’s dream and his legacy. In an effort to explore the legacy of Dr. King, there will be a dramatization (including Lima City School students) and a former Latin King Gang member, Pastor Rich Carlson will also speak on the legacy of Dr. King. Shackelford has served as a motivational consultant to numerous social service agencies throughout the Midwest and southern portions of the United States for more than twenty years. He sees the world through the eyes of his diverse audience.

    The National Recording Artist, Wildflower (a teen singing group) will perform and the event will close with a Circle of Love.

  • Job Fair Preparation Sessions   Job Fair Preparation Sessions are designed to help students prepare for the upcoming Spring Job and Internship Fair scheduled on Thursday, March 26 from 10am-2pm in the Cook Hall Gym. During each session, students will learn how to come prepared to attend a job fair, what to wear, and how to make a lasting impression on employers at any job fair. Tips given will assist students in their overall job and internship search as well. These 15-minute preparation sessions are held daily and conveniently located throughout campus the week of March 9.   • Murder Mystery Dinner   We are throwing our own murder mystery party with the theme of Murder of a Millionaire; a will reading for the rich and greedy.   • Spring Job & Internship Fair   The Spring Job & Internship Fair is the prime location for Ohio State Lima students to learn about local career opportunities for internships and part or full-time jobs. About 90 companies are expected to attend and will have a variety of positions open for all majors including Engineering, Business, Education, Social Work and Arts & Sciences as well. For an up to date listing of employers and job openings, visit: lima.osu.edu/career-services/. Students are highly encouraged to come dressed professionally and bring copies of an updated resume. To fully prepare for the event, make plans to attend one of the 15 minute Job Fair Preparation Sessions held throughout campus during the week of March 9 at 10am and 3pm daily.
