Quercus macrocarpa (Bur Oak)
14. Returning to the main entrance of Cook Hall, outside the Library, you can find growing from a fenced hole in the pavement: Quercus macrocarpa (Bur Oak). The smoothly rounded lobed leaves of this tree are characterized by very deep indentations, sometimes almost all the way to the central vein of the leaf. This tree is very common on campus.
