Trees
Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree)
18. Also near the south Reed Hall entrance you can find a
tree with unusual flowers and a rhythmic sounding scientific
name: Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip tree, or Yellow
Poplar). Leaves of this tree are simple, alternate, and each have
4 lobes with a deep notch near the tip. The late summer flowers
look very much like tulips with green and/or orange petals.
