January 28, 2015: Destination Lima Destination Lima is an opportunity to promote all that Lima has to offer- accessibility to the best faculty, resources and staff, affordability and leadership opportunities (just to name a few). Many students are undecided about whether to stay or go to Columbus, and we hope this event helps students make a decision! Pizza and drinks will be provided and there will be an opportunity for students to win a scholarship!

February 03, 2015: Peanut Butter Bash We are kicking off Black History Month and celebrating agricultural chemist, George Washington Carver, who invented more than 300 uses of peanut butter. Stop by the game room for a variety of peanut butter treats and pick up some interesting facts regarding George Washington Carver. Please note that as this is a peanut butter themed event. NOTE: Those with severe food allergies may not wish to avoid the area.

February 11, 2015: Professional Development Series: Interview Tips All students, especially those graduating soon, are highly encouraged to attend the presentation on Interviewing Tips! During this interactive session, you will learn how to prepare for, successfully complete and follow-up on any job or internship interview. This Professional Development Series will serve as a springboard for all students seeking summer jobs, internships, or entry level professional positions for those graduating. In addition, this presentation will prepare students to participate in Mock Interviews (held on our campus on February 24 and 25) and the Spring Job and Internship Fair (held in Cook Hall Gym on March 26). February 12, 2015: DREAM Program 2015 The Dare to Reach Excellence Achievement and Meaning (DREAM) Program is a scholarship program geared toward underrepresented high school seniors in Allen County. There will be four events that walk the students through the admissions and financial aid processes at Ohio State Lima. Upon successful completion of the DREAM Program and CLIFFS (College Level Intervention for Freshman Success summer bridge program), students receive a renewable scholarship at Ohio State Lima. During this third DREAM event for the 2014-2015 academic year, admissions and financial aid representatives will cover FAFSA, scholarship and acceptance fee deadlines and go over a final checklist for the application process. Allen County high school seniors who meet the requirements and their parents will be invited.

February 13, 2015: The 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest Ohio State Lima hosts the 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorial Contest presented by I Am Making A Difference, Inc. Students in grades 2-12 will be on campus to present their oratorical expression based on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is the seventh year for the event and the fifth year to be hosted by Ohio State Lima.

February 16, 2015: Buckeyes at the Beach Open House Join us as we take you through what it’s like to be a Buckeye at our beach-themed campus open house! Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid and other student services offices will be on hand to answer questions. Plus, a campus tour and a student panel are sure to make the event a day at the beach. February 17, 2015: Master’s of Social Work Open House Ohio State Lima is accepting applications for Master’s of Social Work degree. The next cohort begins next fall. Come to this open house and meet Lima social work faculty and staff, hear from a panel of MSW students and learn more about local field placement opportunities. The keynote speaker will be the Ohio chapter director of the National Association of Social Work, Danielle Smith. February 19, 2015: So Long Solo: Music and Tea experience This is a can’t-miss event! The musical duo So Long Solo will be performing their unique, colorful, and creative show in our very own game room- and they bring with them tons of unique tea blends for your enjoyment while you listen! Want to make this experience even better? Drop by the Student Activities Office and pre-register for GUARANTEED free cookies to go along with your tea! There will be two shows, one around 12:00 and another around 1:15.

February 24, 2015: Mock Interviews All students are encouraged to participate in 30-minute Mock Interviews to gain hands on experience interviewing with a local employer. Interviews will be 30 minutes in duration and include constructive feedback from employers on interviewee performance. Interviews will be scheduled around the class schedule of each student. For interview tips and preparation, a "Tips on Interviewing" presentation is scheduled for February 11 from 12-1pm in Public Services room 212/213. When registering to participate, students will be able to provide a copy of their resume and sample job description. This allows students to be paired with the most appropriate employer and to be asked questions relating to the major/job of interest.

February 25, 2015: Homecoming- Dean Gilbert’s documentary Come enjoy the first ever on-campus showing of the documentary Homecoming, produced by our very own Dean Charlene Gilbert. Her film traces the story of black farmers in the 20th century, including a focus on her own familyís heritage. After the film, there will be a Q&A session with our Dean. This event is being held in the theater and is open to the community.

February 26, 2015: The Price is Right Passport to Lima is selling The Price is Right Live! On Stage tickets. Ohio State Lima students can purchase a ticket for $25. Limit one per student. The ticket gives you the opportunity to be an audience member. If a student would like to have the chance to be a contestant the student can arrive at the Civic and Convention Center as early as 4:30 PM, visit a kiosk and complete the application for a chance to be a contestant. There are a limited number of tickets! Student tickets can be purchased in the Student Services Center. Student must show a valid BuckID.

February 26, 2015: Dr. King Tribute Mr. Marlon Shackelford presents a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will attempt to answer a number of questions relative to Dr. King’s dream and his legacy. In an effort to explore the legacy of Dr. King, there will be a dramatization (including Lima City School students) and a former Latin King Gang member, Pastor Rich Carlson will also speak on the legacy of Dr. King. Shackelford has served as a motivational consultant to numerous social service agencies throughout the Midwest and southern portions of the United States for more than twenty years. He sees the world through the eyes of his diverse audience.

The National Recording Artist, Wildflower (a teen singing group) will perform and the event will close with a Circle of Love.

March 04, 2015: Battle of the Brands Do you swear allegiance to Kewpee or Wendy’s frosties? Do you turn your nose up at 7 Up but love Sierra Mist? Think you know the difference between store brand and name brand? Think again! Come test your tongue and vote for your favorite with free samples in the Galvin Hall Lobby starting at 11 and going until supplies run out! This exciting new event is brought to you by the Campus Activities Board.

March 09, 2015: Job Fair Preparation Sessions Job Fair Preparation Sessions are designed to help students prepare for the upcoming Spring Job and Internship Fair scheduled on Thursday, March 26 from 10am-2pm in the Cook Hall Gym. During each session, students will learn how to come prepared to attend a job fair, what to wear, and how to make a lasting impression on employers at any job fair. Tips given will assist students in their overall job and internship search as well. These 15-minute preparation sessions are held daily and conveniently located throughout campus the week of March 9. March 12, 2015: Spring Choral Concert The Ohio State University at Lima Spring Choral Concert will feature Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus, University Chorale, and Carmony. The concert kicks off the choral department’s five day tour to Nashville. This event is free and open to the public.

From exploring majors to hearing from current students about their experiences, this day is all about finding out what it really means to be a Buckeye! March 25, 2015: Murder Mystery Dinner We are throwing our own murder mystery party with the theme of Murder of a Millionaire; a will reading for the rich and greedy. Guests should arrive at the party in costume. Each guest receives a detailed character description in their invitation along with some background information on the party. March 29, 2015: Barons Athletic Open House You’re invited to the Barons Athletic Open House! Coaches will be on hand from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, men’s baseball and women’s volleyball. Prospective student athletes will have an opportunity to meet with coaching staff, admissions and financial aid counselors, as well as take a tour of campus. This visit day is for prospective student athletes only. Students from Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College are eligible to play for the Barons. The teams compete against other colleges in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC). There is a regular season champion and a state tournament held each year.

April 22, 2015: Earth Day Movie: The Giver Come to one of the five showings of The Giver. The move revolves around a young man living in a future where complacency is valued above all else. Eventually he discovers the sinister secrets that hold his fragile society together after being selected to become the Receiver of Memory in this adaptation of author Lois Lowryís Newbery Medal-winning young-adult novel.

April 23, 2015: DREAM Program 2015 The DREAM Program 2015 graduation is the final event of the year for all students who have completed the requirements of the program during their senior year. Students will receive scholarships to attend Ohio State Lima.

May 08, 2015: WBL Scholastic Bowl Tournament Teams from around western Ohio will go head-to-head in an exciting round-robin WBL Scholastic Bowl Tournament! Team registration kicks off at 8:00 a.m. in the Reed Hall lobby. The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. in Galvin Hall. The trophy presentation is expected to start at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts.
