October 01, 2014: Funnel Cake for your service! The Office of Student Activities kicks off a month-long community service project to bring resources and awareness to hunger and homelessness. By pledging to bring in new socks, food or hygiene items during the month of October, students will receive a free funnel cake on Wednesday. Students will have two opportunities to contribute to this cause - through "Sock-tober" and "Souper Super in the Square."

"Sock-tober" Imagine being not only homeless, but cold and hungry as well. Unfortunately, this is a reality for over 13% of our population- that’s why we’re asking you to help us "sock it to homelessness" this October! Bring in new or clean gently used socks to the Student Activities Office this month for our Sock-tober drive. Want to do more? Stop in and pick up a bag to fill with specific items our local homeless shelters desperately need, such as shampoo, toothbrushes, and canned goods. Drop off single items as well! You can make this a project for your favorite student organization, or even your family.

"Souper Super In The Square" Looking for volunteer hours? Want to make a difference in the community? Sign up to help pass out soup to those in need during the event! The Allen County Continuum of Care Outreach for Homelessness committee will be distributing soup in the downtown square of Lima from 3:00 to 6:30 on November 18, 2014. Stop in the Student Activities Office for more information.
