February 14, 2012: May Week Planning Meeting Come help plan the final May Week and also other events on campus. This meeting will tie together programming done through CAB throughout the rest of the year.

February 14, 2012: CAB/May Week planning meeting Want to get involved on campus? Interested in joining Campus Activities Board? Want to help plan May Week? This is the place for you! We will be having a short CAB update at the beginning of each meeting then jump into May Week planning. This year’s May Week theme: Western! We would love to have you come and help plan this year’s May Week celebration! All individuals and student organizations are welcome. You do not have to attend every meeting to be involved with May Week.

February 14, 2012: Campus Change-Session 2 Columbus Campus representatives will be here to provide information on changing campuses to Columbus. They will discuss procedures, resources, housing, parking,etc. Don’t miss this important session if you are planning to change campuses for Spring or Autumn.

February 15, 2012: Wellness on Wednesday: Rethink Your Drink Workshop Picture 30 pounds of sugar. Now imagine trying to suck all of that through a straw. That’s the average amount of sugar an American adult drinks in a year. All those extra calories contribute to obesity and diabetes. February 16, 2012: Second Level Field Experience Information Meeting Students who will be signing up for Spring Quarter Second Level Field Experience should attend this meeting to have questions answered and to fill out forms.

February 16, 2012: "Careers in Politics" Lunch and Learn Did you ever wonder how to begin a career in politics? Would you like to be politician someday? Come hear directly from politicians about the process to begin the road to a career in politics including what to major in, how to prepare, where to begin, etc. This session is open to all students. RSVP’s are appreciated but not required.

February 19, 2012: Skating at The Cube Students spend and afternoon ice skating in Findlay’s indoor ice skating rink, The Cube. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased in the Visitor and Student Services Center.

February 20, 2012: Warm Up with the Buckeyes Join us as we take you through what it’s like to Be A Buckeye at our beach-themed campus open house! Representatives from Admissions, Financial Aid and other student services offices will be on hand to answer questions. Plus, a campus tour and a student panel are sure to make the event a day at the beach. To register, go to limabuckeyes.osu.edu and enter the access code WARMUP. Please RSVP by the Monday before the Open House you plan to attend.

February 21, 2012: Social Work Semester Update Meghan Peters, an academic advisor from Ohio State’s College of Social Work, will be in Lima to meet with students who have questions about the Social Work program. She will be giving a presentation at 12:30 p.m. in Galvin 118, but will be on campus throughout the morning for students who would like to make an individual appointment to see her. February 22, 2012: What’s on Wednesday: Read Aloud The Lima Campus Library presents the What’s on Wednesday (WOW) Read Aloud. Come listen to faculty and staff read their favorite works which can include such genres as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and short stories and gain a new appreciation for the spoken word. Readers are Bill Angel, Ohio State Lima, and Lisa Tracy, Rhodes State College.

February 23, 2012: Stars in the Morning Sky Referring to the standing ovation given to the premiere of this play in England, a critic for the Financial Times said, "There was no other possible response. Galin’s play is a new Lower Depths." The play is concerned with a small group of prostitutes who have been evicted from Moscow just before the tourists arrive for the 1980 Olympics. They’ve been sent to some dilapidated barracks in a mental asylum. There is strong dramatic interaction among these "Olympic Girls" in a sad love affair between one of them and an escaped patient, and in the demands of some offstage clients, which have violent repercussions. All the while the runner with the Olympic flame who will pass their barracks is getting closer.

February 28, 2012: Update for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Paul Heimberger, a CFAES advisor from the Columbus campus, will be in Lima to meet with students who have questions about the various CFAES programs. He will be giving a presentation at 12:30 p.m. in Galvin 118, but will be on campus from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for students who would like to make an individual appointment to see him. February 29, 2012: Leap Day: Seniors Dis-Orientation Day This event is aimed primarily at seniors, however all students are welcome. All students go through orientation when they come to Ohio State Lima and what better way for seniors to prepare to graduate than by attending this Dis-Orientation. This event is based on the witty on play-on-words and is meant to help students start preparing for life after college.

Amanda Freyaldenhoven, director of the health professions living learning community at University of Toledo and former Ohio State Lima student, will talk about graduate school, how to get graduate school paid for with assistantships and how to find the right grad school. She will also discuss finding a job, interviewing, and negotiation once you’ve been offered the job.

March 05, 2012: Stand Up for Shakespeare: Macbeth The Ohio State University Department of Theatre will present Shakespeare’s classic tale of murder, intrigue, and a man hounded by his own greed. This 70-minute production introduces audiences to the joys of Shakespeare and his language. The Ohio State University and the UK’s Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) have joined an international partnership that focuses on guest artist residencies, professional development for local K-12 teachers, and teaching-artist training. This performance is sponsored by the Office of Development at Ohio State Lima.

*A second performance is scheduled on March 6 at 10 am as part of the Performing Arts and Lecture Series, co-sponsored by Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College.

March 06, 2012: Stand Up for Shakespeare: Macbeth The Ohio State University Department of Theatre will present Shakespeare’s classic tale of murder, intrigue, and a man hounded by his own greed. This 70-minute production introduces audiences to the joys of Shakespeare and his language. The Ohio State University and the UK’s Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) have joined an international partnership that focuses on guest artist residencies, professional development for local K-12 teachers, and teaching-artist training. Middle and high schools may register--space is limited. This performance is co-sponsored by Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College

March 07, 2012: S.O.S. - Student Organizations Serve: Blood Drive Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

March 08, 2012: Music Concert The University Chorus and University Chorale under the direction of Mr. Matthew Young will perform in a joint concert with the University Concert and Pep Bands under the direction of Mr. Richard Sherrick. The accompanist for the choirs will be Dr. Margaret Young. This concert is free and open to the public.

March 08, 2012: Health Sciences Semester Update A representative from the Columbus campus will be on the Lima Campus to speak with Ohio State Lima Health Sciences majors about semester changes coming to the program.

March 09, 2012: WBL Scholastic Bowl Quiz Bowl teams from around western Ohio will go head-to-head in an exciting round-robin WBL Scholastic Bowl tournament on Friday, March 9, 2012, at The Ohio State University at Lima.

March 09, 2012: Honors Visit Day Discover what it’s like to Be A Buckeye Honors Student at Ohio State Lima! From exploring majors to hearing from current Honors Students about their experiences, this day is all about finding out what it really means to Be A Buckeye Honors Student! This event is by invitation only. For more information please contact Mark Cortez, Admissions Counselor, at 419-995-8675.

March 13, 2012: Exploring Engineering Day This day is an opportunity to learn more about our First-Year Engineering Program and the engineering course work that will be available on the Lima campus prior to transitioning to Columbus. You will hear from admissions and financial aid representatives, the Engineering Program Coordinator, and a panel of community engineering professionals from diverse area companies.

This event is by invitation only due to the specific requirements of the College of Engineering program.

March 27, 2012: Ethics and Health Care This Continuing Education program is for nurses, social workers and nursing home administrators and is part of the Programs for Professional series. The workshop will focus on how to ethically address issues with clients and patients while ensuring the privacy of their needs. April 11, 2012: Eighth Annual Rudd Scholars Banquet The Eighth Annual Rudd Scholars Banquet will honor this year’s Arthur and Marian Rudd scholarship winners. Three full-tuition scholarships and three half-tuition scholarships will be awarded to six incoming first year students.

April 24, 2012: Palliative Care: Current and Future This Continuing Education program is for nurses, social workers and nursing home administrators and is part of the Programs for Professional series. This program will explore palliative care which aims to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life for patients with advanced illness and their families. Cost to attend is $35. April 27, 2012: Transfer Visit Day 2012 Ohio State Lima hosts a Transfer Visit Day specifically designed for Transfer students. Please join us and hear about admissions requirements, degree programs, financial aid and how your credits may transfer to our great university. The Transfer Visit Day will begin at 1 p.m. with a campus tour and will conclude by 4 p.m. If you would like to attend Transfer Visit Day please visit limabuckeyes.osu.edu
May 02, 2012: All-American Baseball game Students take on the faculty and staff in a game of baseball using the original rules of baseball. Hot dogs, apple pie, cracker jacks, and a T-shirt make this a fine day at the ballpark. The cost is $10 and tickets can be purchased in the Visitor and Student Services Center.

May 09, 2012: Dynamics of Dependency and Chronic Illness This Continuing Education program is for nurses, social workers and nursing home administrators and is part of the Programs for Professional series. The workshop will examine the common behavioral consequences of dependency in adults and provide techniques to communicate and assist these patients and clients more effectively.
