Dinner and a Movie with Brian Keegan moves to Ohio State Lima
Popular foreign film and culinary nights find a new summer home
For more than 15 years, chef and film buff Brian Keegan has presented more than 75 award-winning foreign films coupled with authentic dinners that match the country of origin of those films. This summer Keeganís popular and innovative project will be hosted on the campus of The Ohio State University at Lima.
The dinners will be served in the Reed Hall Cafeteria adjacent to the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts where the films will be shown. In keeping with project tradition, the films selected for the 2009 summer series have all had successful showings at international film festivals:
June 11 - CARAMEL (Lebanon, 2007) - A romantic comedy centered on the daily lives of five Lebanese women living in Beirut. The highest-grossing Lebanese film ever and winner of several festival awards.
JULY 9 - SON OF THE BRIDE (Argentina, 2001). Nominated for 35 international film awards (including the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film), winning 26. A family comedy-drama and the most highly regarded Argentinean film in years.
AUGUST 13 - BIG ANIMAL (Poland, 2000) Winner of several European film festival awards. A sweet parable on the difficulty of being different.
As in the past, doors will open at 6:00 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the film will be shown at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $30 per evening or $80 for the full series. Tickets for the movie only are $5 per person per show.
