Media Alert: Ohio State Lima convenes Advocates meeting; inducts new member to Hall of Fame
The Ohio State University at Lima will induct the latest member of its Hall of Fame during the meeting of the Ohio State Lima Advocates at 11:30 a.m., Fri., April 9, 2010, in Reed Hall 160. In addition to the induction, the University Chorus’ Men’s Choir will perform and the arts programs at Ohio State Lima will be discussed.
The Spring 2010 inductee is Linda L. Lehman, long-time elementary art teacher and arts advocate. Ms. Lehman earned her Bachelor of Science in Education at Ohio State Lima before beginning her teaching career.
The Ohio State Lima Advocates group was formed by the Board of Trustees to engage past members and gain their insights and perspective on how Ohio State Lima can better serve its students and community. Members can also be past members of the Citizens’ Advisory Council that preceded the Board of Trustees and selected community leaders.
To be considered for the Ohio State Lima Hall of Fame, a candidate must have attended Ohio State Lima at least one quarter, earned an Ohio State degree, and exhibit leadership in their professions and the community. Past inductees include Daniel Bucher; Gil Cloyd; Kevin Haver; Susan Hubbell, MD; and Jan L. Osborn, PhD.

Linda L. Lehman’s Bio
Linda L. Lehman graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University at Lima with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education before going on to teach elementary education at a number of schools in the area, such as St. Charles, Lima Garfield, Elida, Allen East, and Bath Elementary. She continued her education by obtaining her Art Certification, and eventually her Master’s degree in Education.
Not only did Ms. Lehman teach Art, but she also became an advocate for the arts. While teaching Art at Bath Elementary, she wrote many grants in support of the Bath Art program and the Artists in Residence program. She also started a volunteer program in support of art in the classroom. During this same time, Ms. Lehman taught an Art Education Methods course at The Ohio State University at Lima. Ms. Lehman now shares her knowledge as an instructor at Ohio Northern University, where she also coordinates a Saturday morning enrichment program, Project SMArts, to provide fine arts education to the community’s children.
Ms. Lehman is a member of the Watercolor Society, The Ohio Art Education Association, The Chicago Museum of Art, the Lima Art Study Group, and serves on a number of committees. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for ArtSpace Lima.
