Kashtanka The Buckeye Dog takes the stage for Theatre for Young Audiences
The charming tale of Kashtanka the Buckeye Dog will come to life on the stage of the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts in Reed Hall at The Ohio State University at Lima the week of Nov. 15. Public performances are at 7 p.m., Fri., Nov. 19, and 2 p.m., Sun., Nov. 21, 2010.
When a little red dog becomes lost from her family on a snowy night in Moscow, she is taken in by a circus troupe, including a goose, a cat and a pig. The nearly hour-long play follows her story all the way to a happy ending.
Kashtanka the Buckeye Dog is the latest in the series of Theatre for Young Audiences productions held each autumn. The shows are geared toward children grades K-4 and their families. More than 2,000 children from schools around west central Ohio will attend daytime performances throughout the week.
The production is based on Anton Chekovs story Kashtanka, which has been adapted by Dr. Maria Ignatieva, Associate Professor of Theatre and director of the play.
Tickets are $2 for all children under age 10, $4 for seniors and children over age 10, $5 for students and $6 for adults. To reserve tickets or for more information, call the Box Office at (419) 995-8382. Maps to campus are available online at Lima.OSU.edu.
