Dickason photo exhibit opens at Ohio State Lima Sept. 23
Nearly 400 photos from worldwide travels on display
Local artist Meg Guyton Dickason will present her photo exhibit Through Different Eyes from Sept. 23-Oct. 7, 2011, at The Ohio State University at Lima.
"When I show people this exhibit, I encourage them to look at the pictures through different eyes," said Dickason. "I really want people to be immersed, so that as they are understanding differences among cultures, they are also learning more about themselves."
Through Different Eyes will feature nearly 400 photos taken by Dickason during her worldwide travels over the past 20 years. She will also be introducing new pieces, taken from her travels to the Middle East, Australia, Russia and Africa over the past four years. Dickason has visited more than 74 countries during her lifetime and completed 466 different residencies working with children.
A former high school English and biology teacher, Dickason has lived all over the country and the world. She is a Lima Senior High graduate and received her BA and MA from Miami University.
The exhibit is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily in Reed Hall 160, the future home of the Farmer Family Art Gallery. The Artist’s Reception is from 5:00-7:30 p.m., Thur., Sept. 22, 2011, and the gallery talk is at 5:45 p.m.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
