Macbeth comes to Ohio State Lima for two performances
The Ohio State Department of Theatre will present two performances of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at 7 p.m., Mon., March 5, and 10 a.m., Tues., March 6, 2012, in the Martha W. Farmer Theatre for the Performing Arts on the Ohio State Lima campus. This abridged, interactive production is designed to introduce audiences, ages eight and up, to the joys of Shakespeare and his language. It is approximately 70 minutes long. Both performances are free and open to the public.
The special evening performance on Mon., March 5, is sponsored by the Office of Development at Ohio State Lima. Following the performance, Dr. Lesley Ferris, Professor of Theatre at Ohio State, will talk with K-12 teachers interested in the professional development opportunities of participating in the next cadre of Stand Up for Shakespeare workshops. Lima is the first Ohio city outside the Columbus area to be included in possible participants.
The morning performance on Tues., March 6, is part of the Performing Arts and Lecture Series, sponsored by Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College. Middle and high school student groups are welcome. Call (419) 995-8382 for group reservations.
Macbeth at Ohio State Lima is part of the international partnership between The Ohio State University and the UK’s Royal Shakespeare Company that focuses on guest artist residencies, professional development for local K-12 teachers, and teaching-artist training.
