Lima Buckeyes gear up for Beat Michigan Week

Buckeyes from across the Ohio State Lima campus will be showing their scarlet and gray in the weeklong runup to the OSU/Michigan football game on Sat., Nov. 22, 2008.

Judging for the Sixth Annual Beat Michigan Door Decorating Contest begins at 1:30 p.m., Wed., Nov. 19, 2008. Decorations will remain up through Fri., Nov. 21. At stake is a much coveted traveling trophy, cash prizes for club treasuries and a pizza party for offices. People’s Choice voting will begin on the web (Lima.OSU.edu) following the official judging.

A complete list of doors will be available in the Dean’s Office, PS 208, on the day of judging. The current list of doors, decorating body and theme (if available) includes:

Students and their families are invited to the Beat Michigan Family Night from 6-9 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 20, 2008, in Cook Hall. Activities include eating tailgate food, watching the OSU/Michigan Rivalry video on the big screen, voting in the Family Choice Beat Michigan Door Decorating Contest, and playing cornhole, hillbilly golf, free-throw contest and football toss.

The Ohio State Lima Staff Advisory Council sponsors a Tailgate Party for faculty, staff and current students from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Fri., Nov. 21, 2008, in the Quad between Galvin Hall and the Public Services Building.

Future students get in on the action from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Science 100 with the Buckeye Tailgate and Open House event. Prospective Buckeyes will be able to sit on classes, meet current students and learn how they can Be A Buckeye in 2009. More than 117 people are expected at the event.

Theatregoers attending the Friday night production of the Theatre for Young Audiences The Red Fox and the Firebird are invited to stay after the play with the cast for a “Give Michigan the (Fire) Bird” reception in Reed Hall. The Red Fox and the Firebird begins at 7 p.m. and the reception should start no later than 8 p.m.  Tickets are available from the Box Office at (419) 995-8382.
