‘Wild Wacky Wonderland’ garden to open at Heritage Elementary

The Ohio State University at Lima and Heritage Elementary School will gather to celebrate the completion of the Wild Wacky Wonderland at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Heritage Elementary School, 816 College Ave.

The Wonderland is a courtyard garden created by students from the University and fourth graders from Heritage in an after-school enrichment program.

“As Ohio State Lima students and Heritage Elementary School students began our partnership, the courtyard was a concrete barren area that was basically ignored. As we end our partnership, the courtyard is a ‘Wacky Wonderful Garden’ that all students will enjoy for many years to come,” said Lynn Sametz, director of Education Outreach at Ohio State Lima.

The Wild Wacky Wonderland project is a service learning partnership between The Ohio State University at Lima and Heritage Elementary School. The project was funded in part by the Ohio Campus Compact.

The event is free and open to the public.
