Ohio State Lima to host labor practices seminar

The Ohio State University at Lima’s Office of Continuing Education will host an informational seminar by the U.S. Department of Labor from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at the Best Western Hotel, 1375 West State Route 55, Exit 73 off I-75, Troy.

The seminar is designed to give employers the knowledge to comply with wage and hour laws.

Topics that may be covered include:

• The Fair Labor Standards acts and its major provisions of minimum wage, overtime pay, child labor and records keeping.

• Exemptions

• Child labor laws

• U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, including types of discrimination, harassment issues, preventative measures, equal pay act, age discrimination, Americans with Disabilities Act
