For Immediate Release October 29, 2003 CONTACT: Pam Joseph at (419) 995-8284 Ohio State dean wins achievement award at Allied Health conference John R. Snyder, dean and director at The Ohio State University at Lima, won the Distinguished Service and Achievement Award at the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions 2003 Annual Conference, Oct. 22-25, in Toronto. The Distinguished Service and Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has brought recognition and credit to the allied health professions. Eligibility requires involvement in some aspect of health care and the criteria are commitment to quality education and continued support for the allied health professions. Before taking over as Dean and Director at Ohio State Lima, Dr. Snyder held many faculty and administrative positions in the allied medical field. He was also active with the ASAHP in research, volunteer, board and editorial areas. ASAHP is a not-for-profit national professional association for administrators, educators and others who are concerned with critical issues affecting allied health education. As of September 2002, ASAHP's membership consists of 105 academic institutions, two professional associations, and approximately 300 individual members. ASAHP's mission is to enhance effectiveness of education for the Allied Health Professions. Allied Health professionals are involved with the delivery of health or related services pertaining to the identification, evaluation and prevention of diseases and disorders; dietary and nutrition services; rehabilitation and health systems management, among others. Allied health professionals, to name a few, include dental hygienists, diagnostic medical sonographers, dietitians, medical technologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, radiographers, respiratory therapists, and speech language pathologists. ### |
