For Immediate Release July 21, 2006 Contact: Pam Joseph (419) 995-8284 or Lesley King (419) 995-8671 Ohio State Lima students wrap-up summer reading program at YWCA July 24 Day camp participants will take home books Graduate students in the College of Education at The Ohio State University at Lima will conclude the reading clinic they’ve hosted this summer in collaboration with the YWCA from 2:30-3:15 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Lima YWCA. The Ohio State Lima students and the YWCA partnered to provide reading education and books to children enrolled in the YWCA Summer Day Camp Program. The graduate students work with the children twice per week as part of their Master of Education Degree coursework for reading instruction and assessment. The program aims to encourage the love of reading and to improve the reading achievement among children. Each youth participant will be able to take his or her books home and continue reading through the generous support of the Lima Lions Club, Lima American Legion Post 96, Fraternal Order of Eagles-Lima Branch, OSU-Lima Student Chapter of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI), and the OSU Service Learning/Outreach and Engagement Program.
