Student Bio: Campus & Community Involvement:
I believe the knowledge learned in the classroom is essential, but just as important is everything else you can learn by joining organizations, sport clubs, and any opportunity life put in front of you.
My passion for soccer lead my involvement in the soccer club, there I made great friends from all over the world, people from Somalia, Middle East, Germany, Mexico, and of course the U.S.; it is amazing how the passion for a game could brought us together.
I have participated in most of the conferences, expositions, events, and presentations organized by OSUM where I found very valuable information that I now know and apply.
One of the most memorable events to me was “The 2012 Career and Education Fair”, a great experience that lead to my first job in the U.S in the Delaware County Bank. It also gave me the opportunity of networking with people that I could relate in the future.
The relationship with faculty and teachers was fundamental; they are the best partners I could have asked for. Every time they made me feel that they truly care for what is best for me, and that feeling is awesome.
Dedication, effort, and the support of these phenomenal partners lead my educational success.
I am proud to say that I have been in the Dean’s List every quarter with a current GPA of 3.87.
This effort opened the doors for new opportunities like an invitation to be part of “The National Society of Collegiate Scholars”- The honor society for high achieving first and second year students where I am an active member.
Another awesome opportunity I had was to be part of the Marketing Campaign for OSUM; I was on billboards, newspapers, postcards, the webpage and many merchandise goods like folders and postcards. This is an experience I will never forget.
Without doubt the biggest honor was to be elected to be part of the 2012 Homecoming Court, an opportunity I will always be thankful for.
Community service wise I volunteered at the Delaware Resource Center, where I would interpret and sometimes teach Spanish to people who was enrolled in the ESOL classes. I met wonderful people there and learned many valuable things about humbleness and solidarity.
Finally, representing the University never ends, I am proud to tell everybody I know I am part of this awesome family that welcomed me and treated me in an insuperable way.
