Mariam Hellalat

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Major: Biology/Pre-Dentistry Program
Rank: Sophomore
Student Bio: Campus & Community Involvement: During my time at The Ohio State University I have made it a priority to be involved as much as I can possibly be in extracurricular activities, as well as, in school functions. Outside of being a full time student, I am the current captain of The Ohio State Marion’s co-ed soccer team and the President of French Club for the 2011-2012 year. French Club is the main sponsor of all the Spring Study Tours so I also traveled to Budapest, Vienna, Prague, and Munich this past March of 2012. More recently I have joined the Lions Club which is an organization that promotes service throughout the community. Outside of campus I also work part time at two jobs. I have been a soccer referee since the age of thirteen and a sales associate at Victoria’s Secret since November of 2011. What does it mean to be a Buckeye?: At the amazing Ohio State University, whether we are on the main campus or a regional campus, being a Buckeye is one in the same. A Buckeye goes deeper than what meets the eye. Buckeyes are a community of dedicated students, faculty, and supporters of The Ohio State University. Being a Buckeye holds a lot of power. We are known for having a conscientious and culturally diverse understanding, strong regards towards higher education and the future, a means for success in all we do, and striving to be the best we can be for ourselves and our communities at all times of the day. Buckeyes are representatives of the love, loyalty, and school pride, which bind each of us together in this vast university. Together we are a Buckeye Nation with Buckeye endless pride.
