As one of four regional campuses in The Ohio State University system, Ohio State Lima brings the University’s land grant mission to the people of west central Ohio. Students come from a 10-county region and beyond to begin their academic careers at the state’s premier research University.
Ohio State Lima combines the strength of the University’s programs and faculty with the appeal of a small college atmosphere, one-on-one interaction with professors, and a convenient location. All of the tenure-line faculty are members of their departments in Columbus. Since 1995, eight have won the prestigious Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, which recognizes the top professors in the classroom across all Ohio State campuses.
Students who enroll at Lima can choose to take the first two years toward most Ohio State degrees and move on to Columbus or to stay in Lima and earn their Bachelor’s degrees in any of seven complete programs, including Biology, Business, Education, English, Family Financial Services, History and Psychology. Baccalaureate Degree Completion programs lead to a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the RN to BSN Program. Graduate programs are offered in Education and Social Work. The variety of offerings continues to grow with the expansion of the resident faculty and utilization of distance learning technology.
Lima, Ohio, is not only the home of The Ohio State University at Lima, but also a regional hub for retail and medical services. Throughout its history, Lima has been a leader in lumber milling, locomotives, oil, and manufacturing. Its current economic strength lies in a balanced and broad-based combination of manufacturing, agriculture and the service industry.
From its location near the junction of Interstate 75 and U.S. 30, Lima has access to the best the Midwest has to offer. These major travel corridors make it easy to reach the region’s biggest cities, including Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Detroit. The area’s cultural life is enhanced by the Lima Symphony Orchestra, several arts organizations, community theater productions, numerous museums, and touring productions in the Veterans’ Memorial Civic and Convention Center.
The housing market in Lima and its surrounding communities is one of the most affordable in the country. Residents can choose from city, small town, suburban and rural living, all within driving distance from campus.
