Spring for Scholarships raises more
than $30,000 for student scholarships

The Ohio State University at Lima proudly hosted the 12th Annual Spring for Scholarships event for 2016 on the Ohio State Lima campus. Two-time Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin headlined the event and shared the message from his former coach, Woody Hayes, who told Griffin and other players, “You can never pay back, but you should always try to pay forward.”

Supporters, alumni and friends demonstrated Hayes’ advice in action and raised more than $30,000 for scholarships for Ohio State Lima students.

For those of you who were able to join us, thank you. You are supporting students who are talented, dedicated and deserving. For those of you who were unable to attend and see the impact of scholarships in person, it is not too late to make a gift that is life changing to a student.

It was our privilege to host this event and share the story of Ohio State Lima. For a visual recap of the event, please visit our website.

STEM Steps focuses on young women succeeding in sciences

High school sophomores and junior girls were at The Ohio State University at Lima earlier in May for STEM STEPS, an enriching and exciting day filled with hands-on activities in various STEM fields to encourage and stimulate an interest in science.

“The goal of the day is to empower young women to achieve success in STEM fields by instilling self-confidence and a can-do attitude,” said Dr. Swathi Mohan, a Chemistry lecturer and coordinator for the day. “Students also learn the role of women in STEM fields and see how they can impact the world with STEM education.”

Ohio State Lima faculty members facilitated hands-on activities with the students in all the STEM areas on campus, including Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. More
