University Success Program
The Ohio State Lima’s University Success Program accepts Ohio State Lima students and begins three weeks prior to the start of Autumn Semester. Admitted students participate in academic and life skills courses that provide a foundation for the demands and expectations of the University to bridge the high school to college transition successfully.
Admissions to the University Success Program is selective. A typical cohort represents a variety of academic preparedness and demographic backgrounds, such as being a first-generation university student (if neither parent has graduated from a post-secondary institution) and desiring additional academic and skills enrichment.
An integrated reading and writing workshop. Participants are introduced to basic college writing, research, critical thinking, and self-expression through writing, discussion, and presentation.
Emphasizes skills remediation, problem solving, and the use of technology. Students progress through a self-paced, customized math program and have small group sessions that focus on improving skills through intensive tutoring.
An overview of a variety of study skills, practices, and techniques based on research and best practices toward the collegiate experience, including college classroom expectations, decision-making, time management, and goal-setting.
