The Ohio State University at Lima

Spring for a Need

For 14 years, Ohio State Lima has demonstrated its commitment to scholarship support through its annual Spring for Scholarships dinner and auction. With the help from community partners, we have raised more than $400,000 for our scholarship endowment and provided more than 100 high-impact scholarship awards to Lima campus students. In 2019, Ohio State Lima moved the annual event to a new venue and continued to expand its accessibility even further beginning to shift the focus each year to a new emerging need, bringing awareness and support to programs, initiatives and student populations at Ohio State Lima, transforming Spring for Scholarships to Spring for a Need.

This year's Spring for Gen One event helped to build support for a student population close to Ohio State Lima’s land grant roots – first generation college students. These students generally face more challenges than peers whose parents attended college and make up more than a third of Ohio State Lima’s total student population. To address their challenges, Ohio State Lima launched the Generation One Learning Community.

Ohio State Lima first generation students proudly share their stories:

Ohio State Lima's Spring for Gen One event on March 21 preceded the annual University-wide Day of Giving, a 24-hour digital fundraising campaign inspiring alumni, students, staff, faculty and friends to support their favorite cause on March 22. Ohio State Lima’s priority fund during Day of Giving benefited the Generation One Learning Community.
