Dr. Tony Shoup

Starting this autumn semester, Ohio State Lima has something new with a very familiar face. Dr. Tony Shoup has been named an assistant professor of practice in the Department of Engineering Education. The “of practice” appointment makes him Ohio State Lima’s very first clinical faculty member, a category of faculty that just became possible this year at the Lima campus.

“The clinical designation allows us to retain our best faculty for a longer period of time and encourages a strong service component,” said Dr. Mark Kleffner, associate dean at Ohio State Lima. “Our engineering students will benefit from having Tony both in the classroom and out as a guide and mentor as they move through the program and into the job market.”

Shoup is a past winner of the Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer and teaches two fundamentals of engineering classes and several courses in the engineering technology program. As an assistant professor of practice, he is also the first associated faculty member of the Lima campus who is officially a member of an Ohio State tenure-initiating unit.
