Sanya Patel is in her first year of dentistry and her first year as an undergraduate researcher in the Norris lab. 

Question How has working together as a team helped your undergraduate research efforts?

Answer

Working as a team has been good. I think it helps to work with others because I can learn more things and get input on various topics. There's an understanding between everyone. 

Question How do you think belonging to a close-knit group enhances your college experience either in the lab or beyond?

Answer

I think research has been a way I met some great people my mentor (Fatima) also works on Research with Dr. Norris and the people I work with have resulted in friendships. I am also part of the pre-health club, so I know people that do both. 

Question What is your favorite part of having labmates?

Answer

The fun atmosphere that is maintained while doing research and also the conversations we have. Getting to know each other is also super fun.

Question Do you spend time with each other beyond your lab work?

Answer

For me, If I see them on campus between classes and talk to them and sit with them to do work and talk and hang out. 

Question Have you made connections with alumni of the lab? How has that influenced your path or work?

Answer

I do not have in-person connections with any alumni yet, but I have looked at their research to learn from it for the research we are doing right now.
