Fostering Achievement Network (FAN)

The Ohio State University Lima is proud to support students who have experienced foster care, kinship care, adoption, guardianship, or other out-of-home care arrangements through the Fostering Achievement Network (FAN).

The Lima campus serves as an extension of Ohio State's larger FAN network based on the Columbus campus. FAN is designed to help students navigate college successfully by connecting them with individualized support, resources, and advocates who understand the unique challenges that may accompany these experiences.

How Support Works at Ohio State Lima

Ohio State Lima students do not need to complete a formal application to receive FAN support. Students may self-disclose during their first year at Ohio State or reach out directly at any time.

Students who connect with FAN support at Lima will receive individualized assistance through the Office of Student Success to help ensure their Ohio State experience is navigable, connected, and supported. Support may include assistance with:

  • Navigating university processes and resources
  • Connecting with financial, academic, and personal support services
  • Transitioning between campuses
  • Building a network of support and belonging
  • Addressing barriers that may impact student success
