Career Readiness Seminar Series

This upcoming series of events is designed to prepare students to make a smooth transition from college to career.  The seminar series will consist of presentations such as career readiness 101, job search tips, and salary negotiation, and resume writing workshops.  In addition, free professional headshots will be available for students in order to help build a professional online presence!  This series is perfect for graduating seniors from all majors at Ohio State Lima and is open to students at all academic levels.  Completion of the series of events will earn graduating seniors a Career Readiness certificate!

Seminar Series Events

Professional Headshots – April 9, 11a.m.-1p.m., Webb Lobby 
We invite all Ohio State Lima students to stop by to receive a free professional headshot!  A professional photo can be useful to elevate your social media profiles, and assist in showcasing a professional image during the job or internship search process.

Ohio Intern and Co-op Appreciation Day – April 9,  11a.m.-1p.m., Webb Lobby 
Ohio Intern and Co-op Appreciation Day kicks off with an internship awareness and celebration event.  Ohio State Lima career development manager will be on-hand to share information about the benefits of internships, showcase former student internships, and provide tips to launch a successful internship search!  Stop by the lobby to learn more about internships, learn how to report your internship, and enter a raffle for prizes! 

Savings and Investing for your Future – April 12, 9:30-10:30a.m., Galvin Hall 453 
Begin your career with knowledge on how to save and invest for your future!  This information session is perfect for students approaching graduation as it will prepare you well to know how to save and invest early in your career.  Session presenter is Rick Kortokrax, Regional Vice President of Huntington National Bank.  Free pizza will be provided and some students may receive extra credit for attending!

The topic is perfect for students approaching graduation as it prepares them well to go into the job search/interview/salary negotiation phase and make a smooth (and informed!) transition from college to career.

Career Readiness Drop-In Appointments – Career Talk Tuesdays April 16, 23 and 30, 10a.m.-noon, Cloyd Student Commons Galvin Lower Level 
Stop by for a quick resume or cover letter review!  Also, drop ins are welcome for students seeking tips to get their job search started. 

College to Career Readiness Certificate: New this year for graduating seniors!  Complete five of the following career readiness activities and obtain a College to Career Readiness Certificate.  This certificate can be listed on your resume, and will demonstrate to employers your preparedness to make a smooth transition from college to career.

  • Resume and/or cover letter review by career development manager
  • Attendance at 3 career readiness sessions (professional headshot, saving and investing for your future, career readiness 101, job search tips, salary negotiation)
  • Complete the university wide graduation survey (take a screenshot of completion page).

To obtain your certificate, e-mail Rachel Richardson at richardson.607@osu.edu upon completion of five career readiness activities.
