Department of Music

Welcome to The Ohio State University at Lima’s Music Department!

The Department of Music at Ohio State Lima is one of the most vibrant and active among the Ohio State regional campuses. We offer a diverse range of general education and special topics courses that explore music from multiple perspectives, including the History of Rock 'n' Roll, Video Game Music, The World of Classical Music, and Music Citizenship—a course examining music’s role in civic engagement and cultural identity. Wellness-focused offerings such as Drumming for Wellness provide students with hands-on, holistic experiences that connect music to health and mindfulness.

In addition to classroom instruction, students can participate in group or private instruction on particular instruments and explore performance and collaboration opportunities in a supportive community. While the Lima campus does not offer a music major, students may complete the 15-credit Music Minor entirely at this location.

Whether you're a future educator, performer, or simply passionate about music, our department provides a creative and inclusive environment to explore music’s place in personal and public life.
