Lima Outstanding Service Award

The Outreach, Service, and Engagement Committee is pleased to open nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Service Award! This award will recognize two members of our Ohio State Lima campus community who have demonstrated excellence in service! Candidates for the award may be staff or faculty, and all nominations will receive equal consideration regardless of position. Candidates should be nominated based on service that goes above and beyond expectations. As service can take on many forms, nominations will be considered on an individual basis with their position’s usual duties taken into consideration.

Self-nominations are encouraged, as are nominations of your colleagues! The nomination form is a simple, two-question form that should take less than 5 minutes to complete, so please do not be shy! With your nomination, please give specific examples that give the committee the information needed to fairly evaluate the eligible candidate. We have attached a copy of the rubric by which we will evaluate nominations. If you have any questions about eligibility, the award itself, or the nomination process, please feel free to the members of the Outreach, Service, and Engagement Committee.

Please submit your nominations for this award by Monday, February 27 so we can select awardees before Spring Break. Submit nominations to Microsoft Forms

Examples – A person volunteers to chair a committee and creates an atmosphere of shared governance while extending the mission of the committee.

A person creates a program (such as a food bank) that benefits people in the university and the surrounding community.

The Ohio State Lima Outstanding Service Award recognizes individuals for their contributions to the essential work of The Ohio State University at Lima at the highest level of excellence. Candidates should be nominated based on meritorious service that is above and beyond the duties normally assigned to their positions. Nominees should demonstrate and support the Buckeye ideal of care for others, as well as carry out the mission of the university on an ongoing basis.

Given the diversity of jobs and positions among Ohio State Lima employees, it would be nearly impossible to apply any given set of criteria to every applicant. Thus, awards will be considered on an individual basis, considering the individual’s service to the university and particular position of employment. The overall question to answer is: How does this person help to support our students and extend our mission of serving diverse populations, training leaders, and bringing the opportunities of an Ohio State University education to western Ohio?
