About this event

Dr. Zach Hines, assistant professor of English at The Ohio State University at Lima, has transformed his youthful dream of becoming Indiana Jones into a remarkable academic journey. His work has taken him across the globe in search of medieval manuscripts and ancient texts—many of which were meticulously bound by monks whose craftsmanship helped preserve stories for centuries.

Monks aren’t only known for their manuscripts—they also brewed some of the world’s oldest beers. Sidecar Lounge will feature a special selection of Trappist beers available for purchase to enjoy during the conversation.

Join us at this edition of Ohio State Lima's Scarlet Sessions as Dr. Hines reveals the mysteries of the rare-manuscript world, the global pursuit of literary history, and the thrill of leading Ohio State students through Europe to explore the stories and landscapes that inspired some of the world’s greatest writers.

Free and open to all.

Space is limited so please RSVP today!

The talk with Dr. Hines is part of Ohio State Lima’s Scarlet Sessions, a series of fun, informative events throughout the year to share the expertise and creativity of our faculty in engaging, accessible ways — both on campus and in the community.
