Bachelor of Art in Social Work- Wright State University (2011) with Certification in Gerontology.
Ashley Powell joined The Ohio State University at Lima as a Social Work Instructor in 2025. In addition to her academic role, she works in private practice as a clinical social worker, specializing in trauma and anxiety disorders. She is trained in EMDR and neurofeedback.
Ashley has facilitated numerous community workshops, appeared on podcasts, and presented at the Ohio Healthcare Association Conference in 2021. Prior to her current positions, she served as a medical social worker in hospital, long-term care, and home health/hospice settings.
Throughout her career, Ashley has worked with individuals, couples, and families across a variety of settings. She is passionate about serving both her clients and her students, bringing real-world experience into the classroom to help prepare the next generation of social workers.
Ashley is also the author of the self-published children’s fiction book Gia’s Loud World, which follows a middle school girl navigating social anxiety. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, and spending time with her family.
