Brutus Buckeye fist bumps a student

Whenever word spreads that Brutus Buckeye is pulling up to Ohio State Lima, the energy on campus instantly shifts into overdrive. Despite the sweltering heat and the low-hanging haze of Canadian wildfire smoke filtering the early evening sun at the 2026 Buckeye Bash, incoming students, friends and families flooded the Quad in high spirits. The moment the world-famous Buckeye strutted into the crowd an undeniable magic flared in seeing our favorite mascot on regional turf, bringing everyone together to kick off a new academic year.

As Brutus wove his way through the festivities, the excitement level ratcheted up with every fun stunt. One minute he was challenging the dean to an impromptu dance-off and carefully balancing wooden blocks at a giant Jenga game; the next, he was hurling blow-up axes at targets and barreling through an inflatable obstacle course with chaotic energy. He even paused his high-octane shenanigans for a few sweet moments, attempting (with hilarious difficulty) to string a buckeye bracelet, and leaning down for a gentle photo-op with the campus therapy dog.

Throughout the hazy, hot event, new students and their proud families played lawn games, made new friends, and queued up for unforgettable selfies with the giant nut. Brutus brought a spark that turned a simple welcome event into an electric celebration, leaving campus buzzing with Buckeye pride long after the last high-five was given.
