Dr. Margaret Young has accepted the position as interim dean and director at The Ohio State University at Lima and will guide the campus for the next year. 

“It is an exciting time at Ohio State Lima with new programs, initiatives, and community partnerships underway,” Dr. Young said. “I’m thrilled to be working alongside such a talented group of faculty, staff and students.”

Young, an associate professor of music, has taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses on the Lima and Columbus campuses in addition to continuing education courses at Ohio State Lima. Her scholarly work has been published in international music education journals and in books published by Routledge. She is also a sought-after presenter at national and international conferences and as a piano masterclass clinician.

Her service contributions include university and professional committees on assessment, high-impact practices, and curricular development. She served as honors director for Ohio State Lima from 2016-2019, assistant dean from 2019-2021, and most recently was a faculty fellow within the Office of Academic Enrichment exploring the implementation of high impact practices across Ohio State’s regional campuses. She received Ohio State Lima’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2017.

Young earned her bachelor’s degree in music performance and management from Luther College, a master’s degree in piano performance from Bowling Green State University, and a doctorate in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin and joined the Ohio State Lima faculty in 2010.
