The Ohio State University Army ROTC program is expanding to the regional campuses, including Ohio State Lima, in the autumn 2026 semester. This expansion allows Lima students to enroll in Military Science 1101 and 1102, marking a major milestone in bringing leadership development directly to more Buckeyes.
The introduction of these foundational courses allows students to explore the Army ROTC program without any initial military commitment. The curriculum focuses on leadership fundamentals, personal development, and the role of the military in society, providing students with transferable skills applicable to both civilian and military careers.
Expanding opportunity and leadership
By offering these courses at the regional campuses, Ohio State is removing geographic barriers for students interested in the ROTC pathway. Students can now begin their officer training closer to home, maintaining their momentum toward a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard while completing their general education requirements.
“The expansion to the Lima campus reflects our commitment to developing leaders of character across the entire Ohio State community,” said the Professor of Military Science, LTC Steven Spiker. “We are excited to bring the rigor and excellence of the Army ROTC program to a new group of dedicated students.”
