The Ohio State University at Lima kicks off Women’s History Month by recognizing local women who have helped to elevate other women. A Women Helping Empower Women, or WHEW, luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Mon., March 2, 2015, in the Student Services Center.

The central theme of the event is empowerment, uplifting messages and encouragement.

Panelists will include Ty Batemon, an anchor for Hometown Stations; Jennifer Keat-Beck, a WTLW personality; and Beverly Owens-McCoy, a retired educator. Each panelist will talk about their successes with empowering other women and how others can do it, too.

Keynote speaker Dr. Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, a longtime broadcaster and motivational speaker and singer, is vice president of student affairs at Ohio Northern University. The title of her talk is “Your Gifts Will Make Room for You.”

Young women participating in Lima Senior’s CTAG, Closing the Achievement Gap, program are also expected to attend the WHEW luncheon.
