Lima campus names new coordinator of recreational sports
Chad Welker is the new coordinator of recreational sports for The Ohio State University at Lima and Rhodes State College. His focus will be on recreational sports, intramurals and wellness activities.
“Sports and wellness not only promote physical health and well-being, but also aids in the creation of new hobbies, friendships and discipline that can be utilized in the classroom and post-graduation employment success,” Welker said.
Welker most recently worked with the Wounded Warrior Project in Phoenix as an outreach specialist serving wounded, injured or ill post-911 service members and veterans in Arizona and New Mexico. He also served as a program assistant in the Student Activities Center at Ohio State’s Agricultural Technical Institute. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management with a minor in marketing from Baldwin Wallace University and a masters in adult learning and development from Cleveland State University.
Health and wellness have become increasingly popular with the student population, faculty and staff members at Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State. Welker will be building on that interest and momentum as he develops opportunities across the campus.
“I am excited be a part of the Lima community and build relationships with students, faculty and staff,” Welker said. “I plan to combine my previous experiences with Ohio State as well as Cleveland State University to not only bring intramurals and recreational programming to students, faculty and staff, but to also promote an inclusive environment where students can grow, learn and have fun!”
